Pro-active and strategic Advocacy lead – SRHR & Youth
Liliane Fonds · 's-Hertogenbosch
Together with partners in Africa and Asia, Liliane Fonds has been making the living, playing and learning world of children with disabilities more accessible for more than 40 years. We contribute to a society in which everyone can participate.
To lead and shape the positioning and active advocacy of Liliane Fonds in the field of disability inclusion and disability justice for children and youth with a disability, with a specific focus on SRHR (Sexual & Reproductive Health and Rights) and on strengthening the rights and inclusion of youth with a disability in multilateral and mainstream fora, we are looking for a pro-active and strategic Advocacy lead – SRHR & Youth for 32 hours per week
We embrace diversity because we believe that a diverse workforce leads to the best results. A positive organizational culture is essential; therefore, we make extra efforts to create an inclusive work environment where everyone feels welcome, seen, and valued. In line with our mission.
If we want change to last, governments and decision-makers need to take responsibility for children and young people with disabilities. That's why we, together with our partners, make their voices heard: in the countries where we work and at the international level. The UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) guides our lobbying and advocacy agenda towards governments and government institutions. We support organizations of people with disabilities (OPDs) and youth to advocate for disability inclusive and progressive SRHR policies, budgets, and implementation structures in their countries.
People with disabilities can participate better in more equal societies when multilateral and mainstream organisations include disability in their policies, programmes and budgets. We therefore take a leading role in various networks (eg Share-Net Netherlands), are active in international working groups and aim to have inclusion on the agenda of non-disability organisations.
Liliane Fonds, as an expert on disability inclusion, has specific expertise on topics such as inclusive SRHR, SGBV, meaningful youth participation and child protection, which puts us in the unique position to collaborate with or have joint lobby actions with a wide range of civil society organisations to further advance the rights, voice and justice of children and youth with disability.
What are you going to do?
As an Advocacy Lead SRHR & Youth, you represent Liliane Fonds in international and multilateral advocacy spaces, to advance the sexual and reproductive health and rights and inclusion of children and young people with disabilities. You support and connect partner organisations and youth advocates to strengthen their influence at national, regional and global levels. In addition, you coordinate relevant SRHR networks, e.g. Share-Net, and contribute to policy development and knowledge sharing.
Furthermore you are responsible for:
- Shaping the positioning and active advocacy of Liliane Fonds in the field of disability inclusion and disability justice for children and youth with a disability in multilateral and mainstream fora.
- The contribution of Liliane Fonds in the field of SRHR, gender & youth related lobby and positioning, and the coordination of relevant networks such as Share Net Netherlands to further advance the rights and inclusion of persons with disabilities with intersecting vulnerabilities.
- Supporting organisations of persons with disability, including youth, to learn from each other’s best practices and to connect to regional, international and multilateral lobby fora, and linking partner lobby priorities to the Liliane Fonds lobby agenda where relevant.
- Contributing to knowledge products and position papers regarding SRHR, gender, youth empowerment and disability justice and to the visibility of Liliane Fonds and partners.
As an Advocacy Lead SRHR & Youth you will be part of the Advocacy & Partnerships department. In addition to your team members, you will frequently collaborate in multidisciplinary teams. You will report to the Director of Advocacy and Partnerships.
What do you bring?
- A level of working and thinking at a master’s degree level, preferably gained in a relevant education such as development studies or international development.
- Knowledge and work experience in the field of SRHR, meaningful youth engagement, human rights/justice and/or lobbying and advocacy.
- Demonstrable writing and intercultural communication skills and the ability to translate complex information for diverse audiences, including youth groups.
- Proficiency in Dutch and English, both verbally and in writing, at C1/C2 level or a willingness to develop these language skills to the required level. Proficiency in French is prefered but not mandatory.
- Affinity with and knowledge of the position of people who are marginalized, such as people with disabilities, young women and girls, sex workers and people who are LGBTQI+.
- Willingness to travel within Europe and to programme countries.
- Permission to work in the EU.
Finally, you recognise yourself in the four core values of Liliane Fonds: equity, connection, courage and action.
What does the Liliane Fonds offer you?
